Manager Product Development
In her role as Manager Product Development, no day is the same for Justine Whitfield. Tasked with developing and launching innovative new services and products for Airways’ diverse range of customer groups, Justine spends her time looking for new ideas.
“Relationships are absolutely key in my role. We spend a lot of time with our customers at their sites, or at events, conferences and symposiums, keeping abreast of emerging trends, and really getting to know the evolving needs of our industry,” she says.
“We sit down and think about what types of new customers are likely to be coming through, what their needs are, and how we can help them to reach their goals. A good example of this is the growing use of drones in our airspace, so we’ve been heavily involved in enabling that new industry safely. We leverage Airways people’s expertise to develop these new services.”
Justine came to Airways from a background in software, having worked as a business analyst, a software development manager and a product manager. With a love of travel she was naturally attracted to Airways.
I’ve worked with some really interesting customers, they’re trying to change the world and are very inspiring and interesting people to be around. Everyone is open to collaboration and doing things safely which is very important to us.
“Aviation is a really interesting industry and you feel like you’re really part of something that matters. You’re making things happen - helping people connect with friends and family, businesses growing and innovating, aviation is such an important part of our country.”
Justine says that the most rewarding part of her role is feeling like she has contributed to customers achieving their goals.
“They’re really excited, you’re really excited. Some of those emails you get, telling you how easy you’ve made their day because of the process you’ve established, or thanking you for your help – that’s really good.”
